Upgrade from legacy OrgChart files
OrgChartX
is an iCloud based
app that lets you create and manage organizational charts online. If you have used the legacy OrgChart apps
before, you can easily upgrade your existing charts to OrgChartX. The legacy OrgChart apps are document-based
apps that store each chart in a file with the .org
extension. OrgChartX can import these files and convert them to online charts.
Prepare the legacy OrgChart files
Before you can import your legacy OrgChart files to OrgChartX, you need to save them to a location that is accessible from your device. We recommend using iCloud Drive, which syncs your files across all your Apple devices.
macOS
On macOS, you can save your legacy OrgChart files to any folder you want. If you are not sure where your files are, you can use Finder to search for them by name or extension (.org).
iOS
On iOS, you can use the old OrgChart app to export your charts to iCloud Drive. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the chart you want to export with the old OrgChart app on your iPad or iPhone.
- Tap the export button on the toolbar and select "Copy to iCloud Drive".
- Choose a folder to save your chart file.
Import from .org files
Once you have saved your legacy OrgChart files to iCloud Drive or another location, you can import them to OrgChartX. To do this, follow these steps:
- Launch the OrgChartX app on your device (iPad, iPhone, Mac or Apple Vision Pro).
- Tap the "+" icon on the welcome window and select "Import from OrgChart file".
- Browse and select the OrgChart file you want to import.
- Wait for the import process to finish. The imported chart will appear as an icon in the "My Charts" view in the welcome window.
